WasteX partners with Indonesian agricultural producers to convert organic waste like corn cobs and sawdust into biochar using pyrolysis. Certified as Artisan Pros under C-Sink standards, this creates long-term carbon storage, sequestering over 20,000 tons of CO2eq in five years.

WasteX works with agricultural producers in Indonesia to produce biochar using WasteX pyrolysis technology and apply biochar with nearby farmers. We typically work with mills and poultry farms but also some other producers (e.g. fertilizer producers). All our clients / partners shall certify as Artisan Pros. Our 2 initial Artisan Pros are a corn mill and sawmill, both located in Java, Indonesia, utilizing corn cobs and sawdust / wood chips, respectively. We intend to keep adding more Artisan Pros over time to grow our network. The project will increase carbon sequestration by working the produced biochar into different matrixes and in this way create a long-term carbon storage with a persistence of up to 1000 years as according to the Global Artisan CSink Standard. Without the project, no C-sink would be created since feedstock utilized by WasteX’s biochar producers (incl. corn cobs, sawdust / wood chips, rice husk, used bedding etc.) does not constitute a long-term carbon reservoir. In the initial 5 years of the project we expect carbon sequestration of more than 20,000 tons CO2eq in total starting with as much as 400 tons CO2eq in the first year.
